Primary Function:
Operates and performs setup of both manual and CNC Lathe work centers in the production of bolt action products with the support and guidance of the Machine Center Manager. This position requires attention to detail and ability to visually inspect product for quality-at-the-source review and improvements. The candidate must have the desire to learn machining standards and basic measuring equipment and demonstrate the humility to ask for help when needed to continue to grow and develop into role.
Position Responsibilities include(but not limited to):
- Learns how each piece of equipment is set up to run for production
- Uses a computer or tablet to retrieve part drawing, setup instruction, NC files, and other documentation
- Utilize knowledge of CNC controls and manual controls to produce parts within tolerance
- Responsible for production throughput while utilizing LEAN methodology to reach hourly and daily goals
- Operates as initial quality control inspector on all parts produced
- Identify and replace broken or worn cutting tools
- Wears all safety equipment (glasses, gloves, ear plugs, back belts, etc.) as required by management and company safety policy
- All other duties as assigned by management
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability in the comprehension of and practical application of workmanship standards
- Ability to read blueprints, display basic math skills
- Ability to inspect products utilizing basic metrology equipment visually and dimensionally (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Qualifications:
- Experience with operating and setting up Haas and Doosan CNC machines
- At least two (3) years of manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to be trained on the job with more challenging equipment
- Must be legally able to work in a firearms manufacturing facility
