BEDROCK: Painter

Job Description:

Primary Function:

Paints surfaces of metal manufactured products by applying knowledge of surface preparation and powder coat painting techniques

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Sands and prepares parts for powder coat application approximately 4 hours daily
  • Sprays specified amount of thickness of powder coat to products on assembly line prior to heat being introduced
  • May need to regulate controls on equipment to ensure adequate amount of powder flowing
  • Inspect each product as painted for quality of coating
  • May operate lifting and moving devices to move materials and equipment
  • Always wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, face masks and other items deemed necessary by management
  • Adheres to department attendance policy
  • All other duties assigned by management

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Leadership qualities and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Must be able to distinguish between product manufactured, blasted and painted (i.e. a grill guard, replacement front end, back bumper, headache rack, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Ability to visually inspect product and apply appropriate amounts of powder coat product for quality finish
  • Must pass respiratory fit and pulmonary function tests
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking (33% – 75% of time)
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, leaning (10% – 25% of time)
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs. occasionally (0% – 33% of time)
