Primary Function:
Arc welds any combination of plate, tubing and/or sheet metal in order to assemble sub-assemblies, bed frames and complete bed weld out as specified by work orders.
Position Responsibilities include(but not limited to):
- Mig welding according to the instructions of the supervisor and product specifications
- Keeps track of the time and amount of material welded on specific jobs
- Reports to members of the department supervision for any questions, problems, requests or recommendations concerning personal or work matters
- Inspects the welded product for quality of assembly
- Uses various tools, jigs, forms, arms and hands to shape metal parts to meet product specifications
- Returns tooling to appropriate storage area
- Wears all safety equipment (helmets, safety glasses, gloves, long sleeves, ear plugs, back belts, aprons, etc.) as required by management and company safety policy
- All other duties assigned by management
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability in the comprehension of and practical application of workmanship standards, including checking finished weld product for accuracy
Qualifications:
- Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and production reports and production orders
- Ability to use all applicable measuring tools and gauges
- Ability to learn how to set up the welders and equipment for production
- Must be able to learn job, retrieve job tooling and/or samples, set up machine
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand on floor and/or floor mats for up to, ten (10) hours per day, or sit on stools for up to, ten (10) hours per day (67-100%)
- Must be able to obtain parts and supplies 10-50 feet away less than 1 hour per day (0-33%)
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently (34-66%) and 75 pounds assisted lifting occasionally (0-33%) from one (1) to four (4 ) feet levels
- Must be able to carry 40 pounds occasionally (0-33%) from 10 to 60 feet distances
- Required movements include bending, reaching, twisting waist, and rotating wrists and shoulders frequently (34-66%)
- Must be able to push and pull a pallet jack weighing from 200 to 2000 pounds and up to 4000 pounds with assistance
Work Environment:
Employee will be inside 80-90% of the time with temperature extremes ranging from 50-110 degrees. There are odors and smoke from the welding. Any exposed skin may be subjected to electrical arc light.
This position requires that the employee be able to work in and around:
- Indoors and outdoors
- Loud noise environments
- Climate-controlled environment
- Extreme heat or cold (weather-related)
- Wet or humid conditions (weather-related)
- Fumes from equipment or airborne particles
